South Sudanese First Vice President Taban Deng Gai is sanctioned by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). The department posted the details of the sanction on the 8/01/2020 to the US Treasury website. Taban is accused of directing or involvement in the death of Samuel Dong Luak and Aggrey Idris. He is also accused of ‘involvement in serious human rights abuse, including the disappearance and deaths of civilians’.
