For the last 14 years the Diocese of Bor, which is now divided into other dioceses, had been in partnership with the American Diocese of Indianapolis. In recent years the shift by American Episcopal churches in support and blessings of the same sex couples created the deterioration of the friendship. After hearing that the Diocese of Indianapolis was contemplating or blessing same sex couples, the leadership of the Diocese of Bor began to reflect upon the partnership. In February 2016, Bishop Reuben Akuerdit wrote to Bishop Cate Waynick informing her that they were opting out of the partnership. Soon after that, Bishop Cate Waynick replied by instructing all of the churches under his jurisdiction to stop praying for the Diocese of Bor. In an interview with SBS Dinka Radio, Bishop Akurdit said that they will never entertain or receive money from those who are practicing same sex marriage. Bishop Akurdit stressed the need for the two Dioceses to keep each other in prayers. Here is the interview.
