Jacob Gai was blind at birth, but he never let that hold him down from doing what he loves the most. Despite the sufferings, Jacob is now aspiring to become one of South Sudanese best musicians. He is not focusing too much on his disability but needed to advance his music career a wish that could open more doors for him in life.

Jacob Gai was born in 1992 a healthy child, but his parent never realised something wrong with his eyes. It was after a few weeks that when doctors told his parents that he was blind at birth. Soon after that, his family separated, and Jacob was left in the care of the mother. In 2007, Jacob lost his mother again immediate person to assume the responsibilities to give him the most necessary attention.

Lueth Panchol is one of Jacob's maternal cousins, and they were a friend when they were kids. Lueth assumed the responsibilities to take care of Jacob. When South Sudan went into crisis in 2013, Lueth help takes him to safety.

Lueth also realised a talent in Jacob and that when he asked him to record his songs. One of the songs is talking about his sufferings and praying to God at the same time to help him out of the pains. Even if Jacob has no proper school that he went o, he found great hope in the Dinka Bor New Testament talking bible. He can now remember most of the verses without a real book on his hands. With the help of South Sudanese Filmmaker Andrew Dhieu, we were able to talk to Jacob in the South Sudanese capital.
