Mangar and Akech Makur Chuot are South Sudanese Australians who came to Australia over 10 years. The two with their mother and siblings settled in Western Australia. Like many other Southern Sudanese, both Akech and Mangar were refugees in Kakuma Refugee camp. They lost their father Makur Chuot during the war in South Sudan but their mother gave them the care they need even in Australia.

At 12 years, Akech who is now 23, started playing soccer in primary school and later shifted to Australian Football (AFL) where she became the first African girl to be drafted to the girls team in Western Australia. After many years of playing both soccer and AFL, Akech is now expecting to be the drafted to AFL Women's National Team.  One the other hand, Mangar who is older than Akech studied aviation at Victoria University. Mangar was discovered during a school running competition. So far Mangar has been the WA state champion for 200 & 400m races. Mangar will represent South Sudan in the Brazil Olympic Games in 2016. Mangar will be going to South Africa to represent South Sudan in African championship in three weeks. Here is the interview.
