Mayen Ngor Atem is South Sudanese Minister for Agriculture and Forestry and Member of the Jonglei State Legislative Assembly. Mayen served as Minister during the previous leadership of John Koang Nyuon and maintained he seat under the new Governor Philip Aguer. Leading To the appointment of Mayen and Akech Deng, Duk community members were protesting the allocation of the seats at the State Legislative Assembly. This delayed the swearing in process for the two ministers but Governor Aguer reached out to allow these two ministers start their work. In this interview, Mayen explains the situation that surrounding the complaints of the Duk community and also answers some questions about continuing his job as minister despite the call to step aside in protest.
