In October 1990, Awur Mawel Malual who was a 24 years old SPLA officer who was given the responsibility to move with hundreds of unaccompanied minors to Polataka in Equtoria. Many of these children were between the age of six and fifteen years old boys. With orders from Kuol Manyang to Arun Maan Chot, Awur who was the headmaster of Malek School in Bor was then selected to take these children to Torit. After Torit, these will be again told to move to Polataka. In the Same year, Awur was joined by Sebit William Garang Dut at the rank of captain.
