South Sudanese former head of military Paul Malong Awan in recent interview after his sacking with Miraya Radio called for peace and calm in the country. Malong Awan who replaced James Hoth Mai in 2014 was decreed out by President Kiir Mayardit on 09/05/2017. Soon after his sacking, Malong left Juba for Aweil which is his home town and the area he once served as Governor before his military portfolio. The new head of the army now is Ajango Mawut who is also a native of Aweil. When asked by a Miraya broadcaster about what is his plane, Malong said. My plan is simple. When I was relieved, I felt that I should go home and why I left yesterday. I left Juba toward Bahr el gazal and that why I am in Yirol. Whatever been said around, there is no reality. If I have a problem then that problem should be in Juba and I cant leave Juba to go and do it somewhere!Paul Malong congratulated the new military Chief of General Staff. Malong said Ajongo will even achieve much than him in his milady duties.
