South Sudanese veteran singer Deng Kuot Thiec has died, the son has said in an interview on SBS Dinka.

(Audio in Dinka)South Sudanese veteran singer Deng Kuot Thiec has died in Juba. Deng Kuot is known as Deng Panan or Makur ku Magak. He became sick in 2013, and the illness paralysed parts of his body. Deng was still active, and he loves to work on his farm.


Deng was working on his farm when he collapsed due to high blood pressure. The family transferred him to the nearby medical centre, Wau and finally to Juba where he passed on the 01/07/2019. The news of his passing was confirmed to SBS Dinka today by his son Thiec Deng Kuot.
