About a year and a half ago, we spoke with Tjerk Slagman. The Dutchman had just left the hospital in Perth (WA) to rehabilitate, after a dirt bike accident where he had suffered a spinal cord injury. Doctors said, he would never be able to walk again. In November 2021, to everyone's surprise, he was able to walk a few steps again with crutches. But Tjerk's exceptionally inspiring story doesn't end there. Crutches are now a thing of the past, he can ride his bike again and is in training for a 12 km run. He also works in healthcare, with people who also have spinal cord injuries.
This interview is in Dutch.
Listen to Tjerk's first interview below, where he explains what exactly happened on the day of the accident.
