Words from lesson 16: the last letter of a word
Some important rules to remember:
- if you don't hear a letter at the end of a word, then you don't write it
- a Dutch word never end in a V or a Z.
- When the stem of a verb ends in a V or Z, then these letters change into the 'softer version' —> the V becomes an F, the Z becomes an S
- in Dutch a word never ends on two of the same vowels. Exceptions are words borrowed from another language such as jazz.
