Melbourne earthquake records as most powerful quake for more than a century

Melbourne has been hit by the most powerful earthquake in the Victorian capital's surrounds for more than a century. The quake had a magnitude of 3.8* on the Richter scale, and was felt as far south as Hobart (TAS). Around the epicenter in Sunbury, some damage to buildings was reported.


This segment is a mix of Dutch and English.

*On Tuesday 30/5 Geoscience Australia has upgraded the quake to magnitude 4.0.
