Football club Ringwood City will celebrate its 70th anniversary this month. Michael Gijsberts, member of the Dutch community in Melbourne since the fifties, tells about the origin of the club. Ringwood started in 1953 under the name Wilhelmina D.S.C. (Dutch Soccer Club). The club still plays in an orange jersey and the logo has a crown, but why did the name Wilhelmina disappear?
The 70th anniversary of Ringwood City will be celebrated with a grand gala dinner on Saturday, June 17. Click here for more information.
