A Fuel Crisis in the Kurdistan region

Petrol Station in Northern Iraq

Source: Nassem Sadiq

A new crisis began in Iraqi Kurdistan after border crossings and airports between the region and Iran were closed due to fear of the spread of Coronavirus.

Our correspondent Nassem Sadiq said the crisis greatly increased people's fear of not obtaining fuel for their cars. Long queues of people built up in petrol stations for long hours.

The government moved to reduce people's anxiety over this crisis and said that the amount that was imported from Iran was not of much impact. The government said it started monitoring petrol stations to prevent petrol price manipulation.
