Doctor Samir Jonah is a painter, researcher, writer, and poet who devoted himself to devising and translating medical terms into Assyrian. He is now busy writing a type of poetry and heritage folklore song called "Rawai".

Doctor Samir said that his books in the English language focus on the role of the Assyrians in transferring medical science to the world. He added that he wrote poetry in Arabic.
On his learning of Assyrian language, he said he taught himself and took an interest in the subject to prove that the language is apt for anyone who wants to learn it and research in it.
He invites every language-learning person to search and formulate terms in his field of competence because it is a way to protect and develop the language.
He emphasized that he liked the traditional folklore singing known "Rawai" since childhood. It is believed that this type of poetry is unique in that it is poetry written to be sung and written in different fields of life and not about love alone, as some believe.
He added that when he began researching and formulating medical terms in language, he decided to write in the literature and began in this poetic form consisting of sections of three verses and every verse has seven movements, a formula similar to the Japanese Haiku that uses seven movements, five and then seven.
He emphasized that he started writing a year and a half ago and now has more than four hundred passages of this poetic genre in all areas of life, politics, love, history, wars and persecutions that his nation has suffered.
He usually looks at an image and is inspired by the theme of the poem. He added that we will publish his work in a book to preserve this type of lyric poetry.
