Source: Samir Khoshaba

A number of recent immigrants in Sweden, like Somalis, Iraqis, and Syrians have died of COVID-19 infection. Sixty of them were Assyrians, a large proportion compared to the rest of the Swedes.

We spoke with university professor, engineer and Journalist, Samir Khoshaba from Sweden, about the reasons, He said that the Swedish government has taken a different strategy from other countries and put the responsibility to adhere to social distancing on everyone.
He stressed that the reasons will be seen in the future, whether they are medical or according to what is rumored that these people do not know the language of the country and do not receive instructions correctly, but he believes that social media has a lot of information about this pandemic in all languages.
He points to the possibility that one of the reasons may be that our eastern families are large and live in one house or small apartment, so we find the grandfather, the grandmother, the father and the children in one house.

Despite the government's call to refrain from mixing with the elderly, but if one  members is infected without knowing, he or she will infect the elderly. Perhaps the other reason is the continuing to go to places of worship and mixing with each other, before they were closed  by the government.
About his work in university teaching, he said that despite the difficulties he experienced in the beginning to adapt to distance education, he doesn't  find it enjoyable as in the classroom where there is teacher’s interaction with students .. This experience doubled our work
