The Assyrian International Federation in Australia will organize a two-hour Facebook program on Assyria Day, on Wednesday 1 July 2020, in which government officials and prominent Assyrians from Australia and abroad will participate.
Mr. Hermiz Shahen is the Deputy Secretary General of the Assyrian Universal Alliance ( AUA), said that although this day did not take place globally at once, still, there are celebrations in certain countries. In Australia, we are proud to say we have been organising the celebration for the last ten years in a much bigger scale compared to other parts in the world where Assyrians live.
A number of political figures from different governments level, participated in the revival of this day.
The celebrations witnessed the active participation of the youth and interacted with the figures we brought in to talk about politics and history.
Mr. Shahen called on the youth to strengthen their participation and take the initiative to take responsibility in preserve the nation’s legacy, and work for the rights and freedom of the nation in its country of origin, which is one of the aims of Assyria Day.
