It is very important that we maintain social communication using social media, so we do not completely isolate ourselves from the world. Yet we have to pay attention to other things that ease our anxiety.

Psychologist Dayana Yakho told SBS that we should spend time with simple daily actions to break the psychological anxiety and fear that negatively affects our lives, including caring for plants as an example, or practicing yoga or walking indoors for the purpose of revitalising the body.

She stressed the necessity of avoiding browsing social media all the time, which increases anxiety and taking some steps that keep us away from it, for example not to resort to social media from early morning, but to make a decision to eat breakfast first and do activities that distract us and ease our anxieties.

Ms Yakho suggests setting aside a specific time to check social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram, and importantly, to read news from reliable sources, as there is a concerning number of misleading news reports and information spreading in social media.
