Hume city Council's assistance projects during Covid-19 pandemic

Due to covid -19 pandemic, lockdown and social distancing, The Hume city Council in Melbourne, Victoria has taken some measures to assist those effected by the downturn of economy.


Councillor Joseph Haweil talked about how the council have provided $300 thousands of funds to businesses and some individuals to assist them in these economical hardships. So far, almost 300 applications have been received. Also, the council has decided to ease the burden on rates payers who find economic hardship, by freezing the interest on late payments and negotiating easy terms for payments of the council's rates.

The council has also provided $250 thousand to be given to charities and organisation for food distribution to the needy.Mr Haweil added, that the council will provide free home delivery of books from the library as per request.
