Infection case of COVID-19 from Wetherille Park

Shoppers and diners are being urged to watch for symptoms after an employee from a Thai restaurant at a Wetherill Park shopping centre tested positive for coronavirus.

The incident has made people in surrounding areas to be concern whether they might have contracted the virus. 

Carmen Lazar is the Chair of the Community Team at Fairfield Hospital. She told SBS that she was told by the hospital that one person was tested positive from a restaurant at Stockland, Wetherill Park. Mrs Lazar urges the community who many of, shop at Stockland, to take precaution and maintain social distancing and hygiene.

She also talked about how one of her clients from the Assyrian resource centre ridiculed the idea of having his temperature tested as a measure taken by the centre. Mrs Lazar said that if clients refuse to obey with the regulations and safety measurements, than we will refuse them the entry to our office and will report their name to the authorities.

Mrs Carmen Lazar also talked about a letter received from the The Hon. Dr Geoffrey LEE, Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education and acting Minister for multicultural affairs, thanking her and the Assyrian community for being so obedient to the government's rules regarding safety against COVID-19
