Posters about COVID-19 in Dohuk in Assyrian language

some of the posters in Assyrian Source: Freedom Human Rights Organisation

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, authorities and organisations in Kurdistan region started implementing rules for social distancing and started awareness campaign to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

Some of these campaign posters were in Assyrian language. But unfortunately, the Assyrian posters and pamphlet project was an initiative from only one organisation, and was not supported by Assyrian parties or bigger organisations as claimed by Mr Evan Gorial Jani, president of Kheerota (freedom) organisation for human rights in Diana, a village on the northern border of Erbil

Naseem Sadiq discussed with Mr Jani the idea of making the posters about safety awareness from corona virus.      Mr Jani said there were posters in Arabic and Kurdish, we thought why not in Assyrian, we are the original inhabitants of the region and we as a nation, were the first people who invented the language, so why not make the posters in Assyrian. He showed his disappointment with the Assyrian people and specially Assyrian political leaders who never supported the initiative.
