The AUA and AANF received letters of congratulations for the Assyrian new year from the Prime minister, opposition leader, Premier of NSW and many members of parliament with their worm wishes for all Assyrian Australians.
Mr Hermiz Shaheen Deputy Secretary General of AUA said " although the festival have been cancelled with all the hard work, preparations and expenses, but we accept that people's safety and health is more important, therefor there is no regret for the cancellation".
He said that many dignitaries and VIPs where eagerly waiting to attend the Akito festival but unfortunately the
COVID-19 pandemic forced us to cancel for this year. He said that next year's Akito festival will be bigger, better and we already have started planning and organizing for it.
Me shaheen explains that organizing such an event requires an army of volunteers and workers to make it as presentable, entertaining and joyful as it has been for the past 12-13 years. But unfortunately the workload is on few people only and that takes too much time and energy.
