The Assyrian New Year today brings the community together without distinction

Mr. David David, coordinator and official of the Preparatory Committee, told SBS Assyrian that The Assyrian Universal Alliance Australian Chapter, the Assyrian Australian National Federation with Representatives of Greek and Armenian communities met with federal parliamentarians in Canberra last week. also preparations are finalised for the biggest day in Assyrian community calendar.


Mr. David  said Assyrians are working side by side with the Armenian National Council and the Greek Hellenic Council to urge the Australian government to recognize the genocide that our people were subjected to at the beginning of the twentieth century.

He stressed that the meeting was an opportunity to inform officials about the celebration of Kha-B-Nisan Assyrian New Year  planned on March 29, 2020 and many members of the government expressed their desire to attend and participate in the joy of the Assyrians.

He added that this year we have allocated time for a representative of our Greek, Armenian and Assyrian communities to shed light on the joint hard work for years.

Mr. David said that preparations are underway and that many of our people and from other communities are contacting us expressing their interest to participate in this day.

He added that this celebration is a great opportunity that everyone is waiting for, and it is the day that unites us without distinction.
