Dr. Maloka (who has a PHD in physiochemistry and environment) said that the Municipal Council is the smallest government component concerned with providing municipal services such as the environment, hygiene, buildings, kindergartens, and elderly issues.
He added that the task of the councillor is to convey the suffering of the region’s community to the council, as well as to deliver instructions and explanations of important laws for the community to simply understand.
Mr Maloka stressed that there are many problems that people suffer from, because they do not understand the municipal laws, especially for new arrivals who lack the language and knowledge of the country's system.
Dr.Maloka said that he has worked in non-profit organizations and associations since his arrival to Australia in 2005. He added that he participated in holding educational courses and volunteered in providing various services, which granted him The Victorian Multicultural Award for Excellence. He was nominated to the Australian of the Year in 2017.
Mr Maloka indicated that his competencies in presenting environmental research and his work in teaching ten years and still, in addition to his work in translation, and obtaining a license in construction, formed a ground on which he stands in order to set out to serve his community in particular and the other communities living in the region.
