We are facing the reality of the infectious virus, and we have a duty to protect ourselves and our society

Source: Fr Thair Shiekh

The Chaldean Church in Melbourne halted all its activities after the outbreak of the pandemic COVID-19 again and called on its followers to take care of their health first so that they can complete their faith journey.

The Chorepiscopus, Father Thair Shiekh, said that we were in the process of preparing to move to the second stage of lifting the restrictions and returning the believers to the church, but we came back and stopped all our activities and closed the doors of our churches., Due to the outbreak of the pandemic.
He added that the Church’s faith places man as an important priority, so I tell everyone that God has given us life and that we have to preserve it and that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Do not say that I come to the church and let it be like that even if we will be infected in the church, I say this thinking is not correct and we do not want to tempt God. If we are in good health, we can complete the path of our faith, and if I became the cause of spreading disease to others, then we enter the field of sin.
The Chorepiscopus Thair, confirmed that the church was keen to convey the message that we were facing a real, contagious virus and was the cause of many deaths. He added that we should attach importance to the instructions, laws and regulations of the competent authorities, because this is in my interest personally and in the interests of my family.
The Chorepiscopus stated that a few days ago he was exposed to a situation that would have infected him. As soon as he became aware of the matter, he went to do a test of coronavirus to make sure that he will not be a reason for transmitting the disease to others. Thank God the result was negative, so he returned to complete his duties as a priest.
And the father, Thair, added, "I should think that I am part of this community, and I have to preserve this community."
He concluded his speech by saying, after the recent outbreak of Covid-19 in Melbourne, I noticed that there is more interest from people, and they go to do test and take care of themselves. He stated that we have a problem in our society that we put social relations in the first place, and I say that we must deal with this matter so that we can postpone our events and our meetings until the crisis ends.
He added that I say to everyone:" I hope to see you and meet you after the crisis again, and everyone is safe. To complete this wish, we must preserve our health and be safe, so I invite everyone to adhere to the instructions for ourselves and for everyone".
