For the first time in Australia, a couple of Lebanese heritage receive Queens Birthday honours.

For the first time in Australia, a couple of Lebanese origin, Anthony and Josephine Sukkar, receive a royal medal in Queens Birthday in recognition of their achievements and encouragement of sports and social activities.

Anthony Sukkar and his wife, Josephine, run a construction company, following in the footsteps of his father, who immigrated to Australia in the 1970s and worked in construction.

For Josephine and Anthony Sukkar, their work in construction and their support for rugby, women's sports and other charity projects were a common passion.

The couple received an Order of Australia medal to recognize their services to many sports, social and cultural welfare organisations and construction work in Australia.

The couple plan to invest $ 1 million to help combat youth suicide in Australia.

Mr. Anthony Sukkar says the suicide rate among young people working in construction sites is greater than that of the wider society

Good Morning Australia interviewed Mr. Anthony and his wife Josephine to learn more about their achievements.
