A young Assyrian lady has passion for Journalism

After finishing her degree in clinical psychology, Tumha Dawood decided to enter a new and different path in journalism. She says that her passion for this field comes from her love to serve her Assyrian community in North of Iraq.


The 22 years old news presenter became known to the community as she joined ANB TV in recent weeks. She is recognised for her fluent language when presenting the news to the public.

Tumha Dawood spoke to SBS about her new role and what her vision is for the future.

She said that through her role, she is helping in promoting and preserving the language by making the community have more access to it through the news and other activities.

One of the things she enjoys the most in her new role is having the chance to work with other young colleagues from her community. She also highlighted the strong capabilities that the youth have in creating progress within the team.

Tumha Dawood concluded the interview by speaking about her future in this field. She believes that as she pursues a career in clinical psychology, she will maintain her engagement in presenting the news and other related programs.
