A total of 38 aid personnels - consisting of Army, Marines, Air Force personnels and also from the TNI Medical Centre - arrived at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base in Richmond, New South Wales on Sunday.
The Indonesian National Military Forces (TNI) has dispatched the aid forces to Australia to help dealing with bushfires especially those in the region of Blue Mountain in New South Wales, Antara News Agency reported.
"The Indonesian humanitarian assistance is a manifestation of true friendship and partnership between Indonesia and Australia, as well as the constitutional mandate," said the Indonesian Ambassador to Australia, Kristiarto Legowo, who also welcomed the arrival of the aid personnels.
The aid is also in accordance with the Lombok Treaty signed by Indonesia and Australia in 2006 and came into force the following two years, of which also mentions the existence of cooperation and mutual assistance if needed when natural disasters or emergencies occur.
It was reported previously that the task of the relief forces in general is to assist the Rural Fire Service to open and clean access to residential areas and other pathways.
