Gabriela Women's Party angrily called for President Rodrigo Duterte's resignation after the latter admitted to molesting a helper when he was a teenager.

He made the remark during his speech at Kidapawan, Cotobato City last December 29.

During the speech, the President said that he confessed to a priest when he was a teenager that he entered the room of their family helper at night and "lifted the blanket and...tried to touch what was inside the panty." He admitted to making the attempt twice but that she "woke up" so he "left the room".

According to Gabriela, not only does the chief executive's persistent jokes about rape and women make him unfit to lead the Philippines, but also puts women in danger.

Labor group Sentro Secretary-General Josua Mata also noted that his remarks could put domestic workers in the Philippines and abroad at risk.
