Learner permit and licence testing including drive tests will resume from Monday, June 15.
This decision has been made in accordance with the advice of Victoria's Chief Health Officer.
Highlights
- Those whose appointments were postponed due to the pandemic will be prioritised.
- New staff will be hired and temporary licence testing sites will be established in order to expedite the process.
- VicRoads Customer Service Centres remain open and everyone is encouraged to do online transactions unless matters are urgent or services are needed to be availed in person.
According to Minister for Roads, Road Safety and the TAC Jaala Pulford, “We know how important it is to have a driver’s licence, especially for young people who need it for work or study – and we’re now in a position to safely resume testing.”
Priority will be given to re-booking appointments which had to be postponed due to the restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Foreseeing a potential surge in appointments, more than 200 new staff will be hired and six temporary licence testing sites will be established to make the process as safe and quick as possible.
Safety measures provided by the Chief Health Officer will be in place, such as appropriate vehicle cleaning, disposable seat cover usage and proper comprehensive hygiene for applicants, instructors and testing officers.
Anyone who feels unwell should not take part in any licensing test.
