The Lunar New Year signifies the welcoming of year-round happiness, good health, and financial and career opportunities. SBS Filipino chats with Master Hanz Cua to give some tips to make sure you would not run out of luck throughout the year.
1. Consider adding these 12 lucky fruits to your dining table.
Fruits that are considered lucky this 2019 are pineapple, apple, orange, mango, grapefruit, melon, watermelon, banana, and lemon.

2. Wear a dash of red.
The colour red is considered a wealth element and it symbolizes good luck and good fortune. Get your family members to wear red outfits or accessories during Lunar New Year to ward off the bad luck.
3. Prepare noodle dishes.
Noodle dishes are a staple in any Filipino celebration. The tradition holds that eating long noodles promises longevity and prosperity for the whole family.

4. Decorate your house with luck enhancers.
Displaying lucky charms, prosperity pigs, piyao, wealth-inviting cat, money catcher, and wealth buddha will attract good fortune into your home.

5. De-clutter and prepare your home for the New Year.
Clearing up spaces increases the flow of energy into the house. On New Year’s day, open your windows and doors to let the sunshine in, scatter coins and put money bills in each room, and fill up those rice, sugar, and salt containers for year-round prosperity.

6. Give out ang pao or red packets.
Traditionally, giving out ang pao or red packets with money brings good luck to both the giver and receiver. 6-8 number combinations are considered lucky, so make sure you put an amount with numbers 6 and 8 to increase your luck.
