Kanlaon Volcano remains on alert level 2, more than 2,000 people evacuated

While residents have evacuated from Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island, some people remain within the 4-kilometre permanent danger zone around the volcano.

  • The areas affected have seen ash like color in the water along the river and falls in La Castellana, Negros Occidental and Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.
  • State of Calamity has been declared in La Castellana and Canlaon City
  • Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) have advised residents in nearby rivers to remain alert and evacuate if the need arises.
