Davao Durian Industry Association Council (DIADC) president Larry Miculob said that China may soon become the top destination for the durian fruit locally grown in the Davao Region. At the recently concluded Durian Festival in Davao, Chinese businessmen have expressed interest in purchasing huge volumes of the fruit from local growers.

Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) cites that the region produced 59,027 metric tons of durian in 2018, higher by 14% compared to 51,818 MT produced in 2017.

Davao is exporting a small volume of durian to Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan.
