Filipina Lolas shine on Sydney runway, raising awareness for elderly support and active living

The Senior Models with a Difference event, held on 16th of March in Sydney, featured 20 elderly women who proudly took the runway, showcasing a range of outfits from traditional Filipiniana dresses to elegant gowns, each representing their own generational style. The event celebrated the confidence of seniors and sparked meaningful discussions on the support needed for the elderly.

Evelyn Zaragoza, founder of Philippine Community Herald Newspaper and organiser said the event’s goal is to promote the importance of keeping the elderly community active and engaged.
The event also provided a platform to discuss issues affecting the aging population where some participants noted that more government support is needed for senior citizens, specifically in terms of health services and pension funding.
The runway show also honoured several women community leaders and individuals who have made significant contributions to the community, as part of the celebration of International Women’s Day.
