Finding belonging far from the city: How a small Filipino community thrives in this regional town of Dalwallinu

Around 300 Filipinos now live in Dalwallinu, about three hours from Perth, according to community leader Manu Ofiaza.

Dalwallinu is a farming town located 254 kilometres north east of Perth. It is known for its rich history and colourful spring wildflowers.
Ofiaza said Filipinos first began settling in the area in 2012, with numbers gradually increasing over the years due to growing job opportunities.
Many Filipinos in Dalwallinu work as mechanics, machine operators, welders and carpenters, while their family members are employed across various industries including hospitality, farming and other sectors.
