Experts warn that the fire season is only just beginning, and travelers need to stay prepared and informed during their holidays, especially when far from home.

The first days of summer have been marked by extreme heat and large fires in several communities in Geraldton, New South Wales, and Tasmania.
Being in “holiday mode” can be dangerous if you don’t have a bushfire action plan prepared.
You may not be directly hit by the fire, but smoke inhalation and extreme heat can still put you at risk.
