India overtakes England as Australia’s top migrant source; Philippines maintains 5th spot

The Australian Bureau of Statistics released new demographic data this June 2025.

Top Source Country: For the first time, India (971,020) has surpassed England (970,950) as the primary country of birth for Australian residents.
The Philippines: The Philippines ranks fifth on the list (412,530), with the number of residents nearly doubling since 2015.
Global Ranking: Australia ranks eighth in the world for the largest migrant population. Other countries in the Top 10 include China, New Zealand, Vietnam, and Nepal.
