The Prime Minister has personally introduced the long-awaited religious discrimination laws to parliament, describing it as "sensible and balanced".

Highlights
  • The religious discrimination bill is personal to Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
  • The said bill aims to enshrine greater protections for people of faith.
  • Under the bill religious schools would be allowed to preference hiring workers of the same faith.
But critics - including some within his own Coalition ranks - hold serious concerns that the bill might actually cause more discrimination against minority groups.
