This former scholar had opportunities to work abroad, but decided to stay and pay it forward

It was over 15 years ago that International Needs Australia scholar Sherwin Mariano was given several opportunities to work overseas. However, despite the promise of a more comfortable future, he decided to stay and pay it forward.

  • At present, Sherwin Mariano is the CEO of Vineyard, a not-for-profit organisation supporting less privileged children with their education.
  • Upon completion of their education, Vineyard's HEAL Program ensures that children are able to build stable future.
  • Last September, students from Trinity Grammar in Australia visited the Vineyard community. Upon retuning to Australia, they were able to raise funds to sponsor 16 children in the Philippines.
  • Several families are also involved in Vineyard's training program where they learn how to manage their own cooperatives and small business.
