Parents sending children to childcare are now guaranteed a 90 per cent subsidy for three days a week, without completing any eligibility test.

Key Points
  • Advocacy groups welcome the change but say subsidies alone will not fix rising childcare costs or limited access to places.
  • The Activity Test will not apply for the three guaranteed days, but will still be required for any additional subsidised childcare days.
  • The measure will cost the government around $430 million over the next four years.
