President Marcos visits Cebu, extends financial assistance, and asks the Senate for an Emergency Fund

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. visited the affected areas by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake in Cebu City. The National Government has extended 200 million pesos in financial assistance.

  • Cebu City will receive 50M pesos while 20M pesos each will be distributed to Bogo, San Remegio and Sogod.
  • The government’s quick response fund is nearly depleted and used for emergencies related to the recent Typhoons Nando, Opong and Mirasol.
  • The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and Department of Justice, will investigate Senator Mark Villar in relation to his term as Secretary of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
  • Vice President Sara Duterte and Australian Ambassador Marc Innes-Brown have promised to continue cooperation and strengthen ties between Philippines and Australia in the areas of defense, education and development.
  • In the area of defense and maritime law, Philippine Coast Guard Officers completed the Law of the Sea Course, in cooperation with the University of Wollongong, Australia.
