According to the latest data from ACARA presented by SBS News, between 2008-2022, 10 schools have reported the greatest percentage increase in students from a non-English speaking background.

  • Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) data suggests the school went from having 14 per cent of students from non-English speaking backgrounds in 2008 to 100 per cent in 2022.
  • The top 5 schools are: Halls Creek District High School with a 91% growth, Sydney Technical High School with an 89% growth, Lighthouse Christian College in Cranbourne, Victoria, with an 87% growth, Yirara College in the Northern Territory with an 86% growth, and Derby High School in Western Australia with an 81% growth.
  • Other schools that reported increase are Al Taqwa College in Victoria with a 76% growth, Bald Face Public School in New South Wales with a 70% growth, Meadowbank Public School in New South Wales with a 70% growth, Penrith High School with a 69% growth, and Schofields Public School with a 68% growth.
