Taglay ng kasunduan ang partnership o pagtutulungan para isulong ang research at exchange program ng mga estudyante at scientists, gayundin ang palitan ng teknikal na impormasyon at mga dokumento na makatutulong para pagbutihin pa ang buhay sa tropics.

The focus will include topics such as marine sciences, biodiversity, tropical ecology and environments, global warming, tourism, and tropical medicine and public health care in under-served populations,” sabi niya.
Inilatag naman ni DOST Undersecretary for Research and Development Rowena Guevarra ang mga layunin ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas sa pagpasok sa kasunduan sa James Cook University – iyan ay ang research at ang exchange program para sa students and faculty members.
Paliwanag ni Undersecretary Guevarra, kulang pa ang kooperasyon ng Pilipinas sa Australya, sa lebel ng siyensiya, teknolohiya, paglilinang at pagbabago, at nararapat itong pag-ibayuhin.

“We need to figure out what’s going on between our lands and that’s where our researchers and their researchers can work together,” sabi niya.
Inaasahang masisimulan na ang joint projects at activities ng DOST at JCU sa unang bahagi ng 2019.
Sinaksihan ni Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Amanda Gorely ang paglagda sa kasunduan.
Masaya niyang iniulat na maraming estudyanteng Pilipino ang gustong makapag-aral sa mga kolehiyo sa Australya, kumpara sa Amerika.
Iniulat ng DOST na nakapagpadala ito ng 145 Filipino scholars sa ibang bansa ngayong taon, at target na makapag-paaral pa ng 200 Filipinos sa ibang bansa sa susunod na taon.
