Hindi nais ng ministro na manatili ang mga bagong migrante sa mga pangunahing lungsod

Nais ng citizenship minister ng Australya na magtungo ang mga bagong dating na migrante sa country towns ngayong ang populasyon ay aabot na sa 25 milyon.

Binibigyang-diin ni Citizenship Minister Alan Tudge ang pangangailangang hikayatin ang mga bagong migrante sa mga country towns at mapabuti ang social cohesion habang ang populasyon ay nakatakdang umabot sa 25 milyon. 

Ayon sa prediksyon ng mga istatistika, na malamang na aabot ang populasyon sa marker sa Martes ng gabi, mas maaga ng isang dekada sa naitalang iskedyul. 

Hinihikayat ni Mr Tudge ang mga bagong dating na magpunta sa mga country towns sa halip na sa mga pangunahing lungsod. 

"There are some areas feeling the population pressures, particularly Melbourne and Sydney, while there are other regions in Australia which are crying out for more people," sabi niya sa ABC.

"So I think we've got a distribution problem as much as anything else. And of course, we have to make sure that the infrastructure is being built in front of the demand rather than behind it, as we've seen in recent years."

Ang pederal na pamahalaan ay magpapataw ng mas mahigpit na mga kondisyon sa mga may hawak ng bisa, na magpipilit sa mga tao na magpunta sa mga regional centres. 

"When they're there hopefully they'll put down roots, have their kids going to school, and make it their home and want to stay there long term," sabi ni Mr Tudge.

Hinihikayat din ng ministro ang mga negosyante na masusing pag-isipan ang pagtaas ng populasyon, at nagbabala siya na ito ay maaaring humantong sa social fragmentation at banta sa seguridad.

"While strong population growth can be good for the economy, we've got to balance that out with other factors," sabi niya, habang binibigyang diin niya ang karagdagang epekto sa congestion at presyo ng mga bahay. 

Itinigil na ni Mr Tudge ang pag-endorso ng mga panawagan sa kanyang mga kasamahan, kabilang si Tony Abbott, na bawasan ang annual migration rate, at sinasabing ito naman ay pinagtutuunan ng pansin kada taon. 

"But the point is that it is as much about the distribution of the numbers as it is about the overall numbers," sabi niya. 

"If we get more people who are going to the smaller states and some of the regions, there will be less pressure there."
