Inanunsiyo ng Department of National Defense na gagawing mabilisan na ang pagpapatupad ng Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement o EDCA sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Estados Unidos.

  • Magkakaroon ng dagdag na apat na lugar mula sa limang original site para sa EDCA.
  • Magtatalaga din ang Amerika ng mga sundalo nila sa mga EDCA sites “on a rotational basis”.
  • Sinabi ng DND, nagkaroon ng apat na bagong site para mapabilis pa ang humanitarian at disaster response ng Amerika sa panahon ng kalamidad sa Pilipinas.
Nilinaw naman ni US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin III na hindi magtatayo ang Amerika ng permanenteng base militar sa ilalim ng EDCA.
