Isiniwalat ng bagong ulat ng New South Wales Nurses and Midwives Association ang nakakabahalang antas ng racism at diskriminasyon na nararanasan ng mga Aboriginal at mga healthcare workers mula sa iba’t ibang kultura.

  • Mahigit 3,000 miyembro ng unyon ang lumahok sa survey. Isa sa bawat lima ang nagsabing nakaranas sila ng pang-aabuso o pang-iinsulto at isa sa bawat sampu ang sinabihan ng mapanirang pangalan ng mga pasyente, kliyente, o katrabaho.
  • Sinabi ni Race Discrimination Commissioner Giridharan Sivaraman na ipinakikita ng ulat na ang racism ay isang public health emergency na dapat agad tugunan.
  • Sinabi ni New South Wales Health Minister Ryan Park na may matibay na anti-racism policies na ipinapatupad, ngunit kailangan ang pagtutulungan ng lahat upang masiguro na ito ay maisasakatuparan.
