There's concern about the growing number of Australians being affected by osteoporosis and poor bone health. Last year there were more than 170,000 bone fractures due to osteoporosis and precursor conditions.

By next year more than 6 [[6.2]] million people over 50 are estimated to be affected by poor bone health.  That's a 30 per cent rise over the last decade. Lower bone density has also been identified in people 50 years of age and younger, dispelling the myth it only affects older people.
