Anger and recriminations over the flood response

The clean-up is now well underway after floods devastated parts of New South Wales and south-east Queensland. Rubbish collections and disaster grants are being organised to help communities get back on their feet, but anger remains about how state and federal governments prepared for the looming disaster - and how quickly they helped residents impacted by the flooding.

In northern New South Wales and South East Queenslans the heavy cleaning work goes on.  Hundreds of trucks are being packed with belongings ruined in the floods in the northern rivers.  Accommodation remains a critical issue, with thousands of homes now assessed as unfit to be lived in. The affected communities have receivied some disaster assistance but  anger remains about the time it took for officials to help them, and who should have been responsible.
