Virgin Australia isn't the first airline to go bust in Australia... and experts say it'll be unlikely to be the last.

The first major airline to collapse was  Australian National Airways in the 1930s, by the mid-1950s a second Australian National Airways was a borderline operation so it joined with Ansett, which was then a much smaller operation. And in 2001, Ansett went under too. Around 15,000 people lost their jobs.
