The Canadian government is implementing emergency powers to manage ongoing coronavirus related truck protests and to restore order. The move comes as COVID-19 infections continue to persist around the world but health rules are further easing in some locations.

A 56-year-old man has become Turkey's longest continuously infected individual, testing positive to COVID-19 for 14 months straight. Elsewhere in Europe, coronavirus cases have dropped slightly in Germany, where authorities are preparing to ease restrictions. Protesters also gathered in Brussels chanting liberty and resistance, but their campaign against coronavirus rules fizzled amid the backdrop of a strong police presence. And later this month, Australian based New Zealanders will be able to skip quarantine and self-isolate in a household.
