The worldwide weekly coronavirus infection rate has fallen for the first time since mid-February. But COVID-19 related deaths have increased.

India and Brazil account for more than half of new infections.  For a twelfth straight day India has recorded more than 300,000 new daily infections.  The nation's health system remains under intense pressure. An additional problem is the shortage of oxygen for patients.
